Grey water treatment
Greywater can be defined as any Commercial or domestic wastewater produced, excluding sewage. The main difference between greywater and sewage is the organic loading. Sewage has a much larger organic loading compared to greywater. People and companies are now waking up to the benefits of greywater re-use, and we can provide the simple solution.
What Can Greywater Be Used For?
With proper treatment greywater can be put to good use. These uses include water for laundry
and toilet flushing, and also irrigation of plants. Treated greywater can be used to irrigate both
food and non food producing plants. The nutrients in the greywater (such as phosphorus and nitrogen) provide an excellent food source for these plants.
Two major benefits of greywater use are:
Reducing the need for fresh water. Saving on fresh water use can significantly reduce water
expense, but also has a broader community benefit in reducing demands on public water supply.
Reducing the amount of wastewater entering sewers or on-site treatment systems.
How Is The Greywater Treated For Re-use?
There are many ways by which to treat greywater so that it can be re-used. The various methods used must be safe from a health point of view and not harmful to the environment. Brauer Industries custom build a large range of Greywater Treatment Units to treat all forms of greywater for commercial site. The greywater (from showers, basins and laundries) is treated to current Department Health standards that allows it to be used for irrigation, laundry and toilets as well as wash down water. In addition we can further treat the water to reduce phosphorous and nitrogen levels which is essential in water catchment areas, environmental sensitive areas and to comply with some Local Shire and Department of Health requirements.
Brauer Industries manufacture the most environmentally friendly product on the market “Ozone”
which can be used as the final disinfection process. Ozone is many times more effective than chlorine
and the by-product of Ozone is Oxygen. Our Greywater Treatment Units are suitable for many projects, including mining camps, caravan parks, schools, universities, recreational facilities, wineries, hotels, motels, unit developments, hospitals, shopping centres and many other commercial ventures.
